Grace Wells is an award-winning eco-poet and environmental writer living in Ennistymon, County Clare. Her debut poetry collection When God has been Called Away to Greater Things (Dedalus Press, 2010), won the Shine/Strong Award and was shortlisted for the London Festival Fringe New Poetry Award.

Grace Wells is an award-winning eco-poet and environmental writer living in Ennistymon, County Clare. Her debut poetry collection When God has been Called Away to Greater Things (Dedalus Press, 2010), won the Shine/Strong Award and was shortlisted for the London Festival Fringe New Poetry Award. Her second poetry collection Fur (Dedalus Press, 2015), was celebrated by Joseph Woods in Poetry Ireland Review as ‘a book that enlarges the possibilities of poetry’, and her poem Otter was Highly Commended by the Forward Prize. In 2022 Dedalus Press published her third poetry collection, The Church of the Love of the World, and also The Book of Life, poems to tide you over, an anthology of Dedalus poetry which was edited by Grace Wells.

Having been selected by Poetry Ireland and Clare County Council as Poet Laureate of Ennistymon, her book-length poem ‘Everyone Has a Different Ennistymon’ was published by Doolin Arts in January 2023. Her work has been translated into Italian, Spanish and Galego. Wells also creates poetry-film, and in 2022 was commissioned by The Source Arts Centre, Thurles to create a sequence of four films exploring the Celtic Festivals, Bealtaine, Lughnasa, Samhain, and Imbolc, for Brigid’s Day.
