She has published a novel and a memoir, A Line Above The Sky, which won the Boardman Tasker Prize and the Banff Grand Prize, Canada.
She’s a Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature and a Professor of Creative Writing at Manchester Metropolitan University. Her work often explores mountain environments, ex-industrial landscapes and the overlooked adventures of women, though her themes range from tattoos to dogs to climate science and the glaciers of East Greenland.
