Kate Newmann has published five collections of poetry, with a sixth – ‘Cockett’ – due out in 2025. She compiled the ‘Dictionary of Ulster Biography’ and ‘Nearness of Ice: stories of Arctic Convoy veterans’. She read at the Himalayan Echoes Festival in Nainital at the invitation of the John O’Connor Writing School, and in 2021 was part of The Painter, The Poets and The Pipers Festival event in Armagh. Kate was writer-in-residence for the Down Lisburn Health Trust (producing PEOPLE CAN’T CRY ON THE MOON, a book of clients’ writings). She was Poet Laureate for Ballycastle, County Antrim and is Co-Director of Summer Palace Press. Her most recent collection, ‘Ask Me Next Saturday’, was featured by the Irish Independent and she is a current recipient of the Katherine and Patrick Kavanagh Trust Fellowship.
