Katie Donovan has published six collections of poetry, all with Bloodaxe Books (UK). ‘May Swim’, her most recent book, appeared in 2024. ‘Off Duty‘ (2016) was shortlisted for the Irish Times/Poetry Now Prize. In 2017 she received the Lawrence O’Shaughnessy Award for Irish Poetry. Her work has appeared in the best-selling anthology Staying Alive: real poems for unreal times, edited by Neil Astley, and The Wake Forest Book of Irish Women Poets, edited by Peggy O’Brien. She co-edited, with Brendan Kennelly and A. Norman Jeffares, the ground-breaking anthology Ireland’s Women: Writings Past and Present (Norton, 1995).
She grew up on a farm in Co. Wexford and now lives in Dalkey, a suburb of Dublin. She has worked variously as a journalist, Creative Writing lecturer and trauma therapist.
